about

These magnificent natural fortresses that have been sculptured over the millennia by the wind and sea, provide the multitude clefts and ledges for the thousands upon thousands of sea birds like Kittiwake, Fulmar, Guillemot and Razorbill to lay their eggs .

Each year, for those few months between April and September, there is the cacophony of sound and the flurry of continuous movement as the birds go about their urgent duties, nurturing their offspring and themselves in the short time that is available.

Over the last decades these wonderful breeding colonies have suffered major declines for many reasons, mostly man made. It has to be hoped that now that we understand the reasons we do something about it, or else these cliffs will go silent, and the sounds may never to be heard again.
